I'm organizing a big event at our mall and I'm looking for decoration ideas. I'm re-creating a courtyard from the New-France area as well as an area which will be like a tavern of sorts.

I've already picked the tents that will be used as kiosques. I'll post pictures right after. Since my pc seems to crash everytime I try to post pics. Anyways I'm looking things that will look oldish to decorate. Sheila gave me a good idea with her wishing well but I wonder if you guys have other ideas. I'll post some pics of the items I've thought of for now.
Well I can't find my picture of the types of tent I'll be using. It's at work.
But here are a few things I want to have has decorations:
Will you have anyone dressing up in period costume?
Yep, all the girls at the info booth will be dressed in period costume as well as myself. Also the people who are at the kiosques will also be dressed in period costumes. I've attached the pics of what our costumes will look like.

Are all the girls dressing up like that? I`m on my way...........................!

Hope it all goes well for you. Sorry, I`m a little short on ideas right now.
^^ Yes we'll all be dressed like that :).
Hi Marie,

Have you looked at the Upper Canada Village website for ideas?

Wow, ils sont mignons. Je serai là-haut en deux secondes.

Ok, I'll settle downIcon_smile

Your pictures look great Marie.

I think there is such a beautifully diverse New France history that most anything you do in decoration would work.
Just don't have a guy in a kilt playing bagpipes and you will be ok.Icon_wink

Any implementation you could get your hands on, beg borrow or steal. Fishing nets, spinning wheels, agricultural utilities, nautical pieces.
There was a booming fur trade, however that would probably be a wee bit to controversial.
There could be background period music. Most non expensive way to use your Mall PA system and recordings. If you do not have a mall PA there are many other creative way to work it.
I don't want to get too far off track here but if you could get even a small token picture of Samuel de Champlain somewhere in your display. I think think that would cater to the older people visiting.
LOL, I don't mean the seniors are that old but they do come from the 'old school' of thought in history.

From what I see in your picture's you are capturing the 'Nueva Francia' atmosphere very well.

LOL, give away some samples of Rappie Pie and I will come up and visit your Mall. I know this is an Acadia spin, but still old French.Icon_smile

Good luck on your project. I have no doubt you will do well.

Thanks for the idea Sheila but the Upper Canada Village was much later in time (around the 1800s I think) whereas I'm going more for the time period of the 1700s.

Funny enough I will have guys in kilts playing bagpipes haha. The 78th Fraser regiment was very much part of the city's history. They may come and show how to fire muskets too. Thanks for the PA idea I hadn't thought of that.

What's rappie pie?
