Hello all,

I've recently installed a Boltek lightning detector just outside of Fredericton in Charters Settlement. I'm still in the ranging process though I believe it is ranged fairly well, at least with storms approaching from the west. They're quite tedious to get right. I'd appreciate a note either here or via pm if "what you see is what you get". My web page is http://laity.ca, the lightning portion is http://laity.ca/Stormvue.html There is also a static image of the Nexstorm map but you'll have to go to http://laity.ca/nexstorm.jpg and update it manually every minute.

Currently there is moderate lightning just past Truro over the straits and just moving offshore by Cavendish (I believe). 8.42am
Well I think that is right :-)

cheers,
Rick
Hmmm, looks like these storms are actually from about Port Hawksbury, NS to the north.

Looks interesting, Rick. I'm near Woodstock to your NW - I'll watch your site the next time we have a storm to see how it compares. Nice website, BTW.
I actually have watched this lightnig detector during some previous storms and it seems to be pretty good. I also really enjoy the live weather portion of your site. Nice job!

Thanks guys, it's getting there. It was off to the east this morning but I've ranged it much better. They must have got soaked in parts of Cape Breton today.

Rick

Welcome to the board Rick , I have been looking at your site off and on for a couple of weeks now , great work / site.
I would like to get the Boltek system myself. I will probably be in contact with some questions in the future Icon_cheesygrin
Nice site, very informative. I have visited your site quite a few time in the last while.Icon_cheesygrin
So for this type of detector, what are the cost ranges?
The detector is $450 which includes a lite version of the software. The full version of the software and a map based on your location are something like 200 so around $650 total. Here are a couple of urls http://www.boltek.com and http://www.astrogenic.com and http://www.provantage.com I bought mine at provantage but they must be available in Canada somewhere as I believe Boltek is a Canadian compay.

cheers,
Rick
It seems to me that the lightning strikes seem to be too far southeast.
