Here is a link to the environmental crisis 'documentary' produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. As usual it looks to sensationalize global warming, but I'll give it a watch anyways. It certainly looks well filmed and it may have some good content. Has anybody seen it?

No , I had not even heard of it until your post. I agree it looks from that preview that it may sensationalize the issue , but I will probably give it a watch also.

I as well had not heard of it. I agree it looks like a bit of sensationalism.
I wonder if this may be more entertainment that documentary.
Regardless, I watch it when it comes out.
I have now seen the movie ‘The 11th Hour’ and I must say it is way better than I thought it might be. I give it two thumbs up and rank it as a more worthwhile show to watch than Al Gores.

The photography is a real visual feast throughout the movie and as per any show on the environment you get a sensationalized dose of the terrible direction the planet is going. DiCaprio does some narration but the real show stealer is the ‘A-list’ of environmentalists who provide great great commentary. I was glued to the t.v. listening to what these people had to say and found it comforting to know there is a strong group of people out there trying to push the planet in the right direction.

I am hopeful all of you will see this show, I totally recommend anybody with the slightest interest in the planet to watch this.

It is easily the best $6.99 (at HMV) I’ve spent on something like this in a long time.
Thanks for the report Kevin. On your advise I will definitely view it.:)
Yes thank you Kevin. I will look for it on "pay per view" on the dish , or just rent the DVD. If I can get it on pay per view , I can record it on the PVR , and watch it a couple of times. One advantage of a SAT dish and a PVR.
I really enjoyed this movie! The girlfriend and I are on a mission to go as green as possible right now and this movie just fit in to what we are aiming to do. After a couple years in the city we wanna move out to the country and have some land to grow out own friuts and veggies.

I love the bous features too. I forget the ladies name but she works with a company what tries to use nature's natural abilities to make things such as strong fibres (spiders silk), self cleaning buildings/clothes/vehicles (locust plant) and even glass (oyster shells).

Just a taste here, but she has invented a paint that when it dries has small bumps (like the leaves of a locust plant) that is self cleaning. Dirt can barely stick to it because of the bumps and the rain naturally washes the rest away. It can be put on buildings, cars and clothing. This is to try and weed out detergants that are harmful to our water environments.

Also a guy in the states has found away to make glass with absolutely now energy at all. He mimics and oysters ability through enzymes and water to make a replica of the inside of these creatures shells. Its amazing.

All I can stay is that this movie is much easier to sit through than the Al Gore movie and the findings are a real I openner. I took the Environmental Technician program in college and alot of the ppm discussions in the movie really hit home for me. And living in Alberta the oil company parts really ticked me off.

Oh yeah, Steven Hawking and David Suzuki are the man! And also thanks for the referal on this movie!!

Thanks for your review of the movie. I have not seen it yet , or Al Gore's movie ( my own choice ) , I think I will watch this one though Icon_smile

After the two good reviews from CSM and prairiechaser I'll pick it up next week and put my two cents worth in.Icon_smile
Have seen it today. Not what I expected at all.

Two thumbs up on it. Primarily because they did not dwell on global warming.
They stepped back, look at the big picture and put global warning in the context of the big picture.

It was refreshing for once to see a documentary on the broad spectrum rather than specializing in particular areas and 'nit picking'.

My personal view is I can do noting but agree with 95% of what I seen. But then most of it is nothing new to me anyway.

I absolutely concur.....unless you are an ultra right winger, in which case this will probably make no difference.

Other than that I agree with the other guys it's well worth the 2 hours to view it.

If you do, note the comment of the elder at the very end. He hit the nail right on the head.Icon_smile
