Looks like we'll have to keep an eye on this one as it gets closer to the 11th. Looks like it could be pretty deep at around 960 mb

More than likely shunted out to sea like just about every other storm that's moved up the coast this winter. We'll have to wait and see though. Something to keep any eye on in this otherwise very dull winter

Certainly one to keep an eye on.

Looks like it may be more of a problem for NL than NS at this point in time.

If the progs are right it will be around for a while stalled in the North Atlantic.

Yup, that 960mb centre pressure looks a wee bit ominous....

Yes, that really seems to be the rule of thumb this year. LOL, not that I am complaining.

The model also suggests that Eastern Newfoundland could see some snow changing to rain as the 0 degree isotherm goes above and to the west. It may get a bit messy into Friday

Bout time we got some decent weather. Hardly fair that all the southern states are getting whalloped and what do we get? Nothing. I'm jealous. It's been a boring winter.

Track today is a bit further east, but the way it is predicted to hang around, it's western margins could bring NW winds and Gulf effect snow to the Martimes further west of Nova Scotia, which is more likely to get the weather, I think. Not counting the battered Avalon, of course, but that's Atlantic Provinces, not Maritimes, I guess.

The whole system is predicted by that model to bring precip to the Atlantic Provinces for several days, as it hangs around out there in the Atlantic. And it gets joined by another Low heading east off the US seaboard too.

I'm with you on this. It has been a boring winter until now. On one hand I enjoy a quiet winter with not much snow around, but the weather fanatic in me wins out and wants storm after storm

No question - not much snow, no cold weather - it's been the winter that wasn't around here so far. There's still time though....... :)

Last year was pretty dry here. We had water shortages and such. But it never really did get hot. Temperatures did not reach 30°C here in St. John's. I think 28°C or so was the max.

As for this system, I am curious to see if we get all snow, or how much mixing will take place. Temperatures will be at or slightly above 0.

Looks like another eastward system that misses the Maritimes largely, but clips the Avalon again. Just a few days of flurries and cloud, with northerly winds. We've accumulated enough snow on the ground now for it to feel like winter, and start folks thinking about watching snow loads on roofs in corners that tend to accumulate snow. At least the deep freeze has eased up.

Looks like another storm for a fish. Blocking has done us no favours over the Maritimes and to a degree Newfoundland this winter. I can`t wait to run some winter stats and make some comparisons with previous seasons, I am sure the snow totals are way down.

For January, we were 30-40 cm less than average

Other than a bit of wind, and a raw feeling day, just a few passing flurries from this system here.

It's snowing right now, could see about 5-10 cm before it switches to Freezing rain, with about 5-10 mm, then to rain. It'll be messy here in St. John's tomorrow morning for commute. It's noteworthy that the pressure is now dropping almost 2 mb an hour.
