After a relatively boring streatch of weather (except for the hot muggy temperatures) heavy rain can be expected for parts of NS, with rainfall warnings issued for the western end of the province. As well some thunder storms are forecasted.

Warnings
Kings County
4:37 AM ADT Saturday 10 July 2010
Rainfall warning for
Kings County issued

Rainfall amounts of 50 millimetres are expected by Sunday evening.

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A frontal trough will set up over Nova Scotia later today and remain nearly stationary overnight and on Sunday. A low pressure system in this trough will move up the eastern seaboard tonight to lie over Nova Scotia by Sunday evening. This frontal feature will bring periods of rain to western regions beginning this morning. The rain will slowly push northeastward today to reach Cape Breton by midnight. Rain associated with the low will follow without any significant break in the precipitation and continue overnight and on Sunday.

Rainfall warnings have been issued for the western regions of Nova Scotia where 50 millimetres of rain is forecast by Sunday evening. Other areas of the province will see lesser amounts generally 30 to 40 millimetres. Over eastern portions of mainland Nova Scotia and Cape Breton 20 millimetres is currently forecast.

This moist air mass accompanying the rain is also expected to bring thundershowers across the region. Higher amounts of rain can be expected locally in these thundershowers. Please note that these rainfall warnings may be extended to other areas of Nova Scotia depending on the position of the trough when it arrives this evening.

Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details.

Just returned from Shediac where they had some heavy downpours but the shower activity has been skirting passed Moncton it seems! Warm and very sticky here again.

With the humidity as high as it is, the rain sure will feel like the tropics!

Rainfall warning has now been issued for Moncton and SE NB.

We had some spotty downpours move through the area earlier today but it has been quiet for the past while. Looks to be some cells inland.

Very convective nature to the weather this afternoon. An impressive cell just pushing through between Miramichi and Moncton. Seems in Moncton we are in a "void" stuck between two bands of persistent convective showers.

Hoping they get the Chipman radar operational soon. Again this evening there are problems. The last few frames are over two hours old.

Lightning to the south and east of the city right now. A narrow band of precipitation is pushing up from the bay of Fundy, looks like some embedded thunder showers are in the band.

It was wet here yesterday, but not extreme. There were a few heavy downpours and a couple rumbles of thunder. We received 30 mm here yesterday and overnight. Light rain is falling at the moment. It is still humid.

Still raining here, 22.4C/88% humidity. Feels like this should be a tropical storm.

We are now under a rainfall warning. The rain is most certainly needed. Hoping for some thunder!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.

With the high humidity, rain, high temps.

It almost seem like there is a tropical storm lurking. Luckily there is no such thing. However, I also would not mind an exciting lighting show.
We may still get some interesting weather later on tonight.

Radar at the present time is showing some rain activity in your area in the next 1/2 hour or so, as with here.

damn! Well, we can't have it all now can we ;)

Really impressive amount of rain though.

What a weather week! I actually weeded the garden in the rain on Sunday because it just felt so good after all that heat. Besides, I'm not made of sugar and as such will not melt in the rain

We've got about 35 mm coming our way. It'll break all the heat and humidity we've had here this past week.
